ARTIST'S STATEMENT: If anything, 'transitional' is a vague word for describing a modern artist, but that is precisely what my art has become in terms of vision, ideas and drive. I have gone from the visual pleasure of hedonism of Impressionism towards Abstract Expressionist mode of depicting a more realistic view of life: Passionate and Chaotic.

I have become obsessed with the subtleties within the compendium of expressionistic values and the appreciation of one's vulnerability, that is one's modernity in Art. In contrast with the traditional hues of idealism and institutional values which not only restrain one's creativity but simply a blasphemous slap on the cheeks of what Art should be: Free…

Freedom is a word in itself, profound and yet loosely defined. In my paintings, that word is a catalyst towards the expression of the full range of controlled temperaments. My brushstrokes has become my medium, the colors – that natural byproduct.

My Art now simply express not the end but the means - the thought processes manifest subjectively on an objective medium of oil painting on canvas - the internal conflicts as well as the meditational and repose. Using loaded brushes I now stroke the canvas with sincere spontaneity and intuition disregarding the "conservatisms" that used to haunt and choke me for the first 42 years of my art experience. The inspiration that drives me is not only the exorcising act of driving my past demons but also the battles between my state of mind and my shifty emotions.

To remain objective on my painting while being aware of my subjectivity. The politics of my being towards the stirred spectator is to me an art in utopia.

Am so thankful and grateful that someone with high degree and respected status as professor of one of the Established Universities of our Country had given me great support in the Realm of the Arts. Awesome... I have so much respect for artists like Bueno Silva, Jr. who pursue their arts with passion, discipline, and dedication.

When God said, "Go forth and multiply." I know in my heart that He meant for us humans to be creative and productive not only in the biological sense but also in the spiritual sense by turning out works that satiate the soul.

Bueno has exceeded his humanity by becoming a Filipino treasure. His beautiful works of art in no time will fall under the category of masterpieces of Filipino expatriates.
