Jeddah- After three long months of waiting, the 1st Jollibee & 29th FBA basketball tournament will come to an end via the scheduled championship matches that will be held on Friday, 28 May 2010 at the Saudi High-Tech compound here. Eight strong teams will be playing at the last day of the successful tournament that will vie for the coveted titles, foremost among which are the Inter-Commercial Strong Division consisting of Jollibee team of coach Arnold Atienza and Samir Group of coach Gary Santos and manager George Feliciano. The other equally good divisions being contested are the Bona fide-A strong division between Sharbatly Corporation of coach Roman del Rosario and the American Garden team of coach Gil Cortez and manager Robert “Bob” Bato, the Bona fide-B involving Rosewood Corniche Hotel of coach Gilbert Borquin and manager Amro Hussein assisted by Jun Casolita and the Saudi Hi-tech team of Janno Ruaya.

Expected to be a crowd drawer, this tournament is exclusively sponsored by Jollibee under Nesma Holding Company Ltd. through the efforts and generosity of Mazen Zaki Munshi (marketing manager), Faisal Y. Bamhrez (division manager) and Billy Junn Tabares (marketing officer).
The awarding ceremony will follow after the championship matches that will be played from 5:00 P.M. to 11:00 P.M. Invited to grace the big event are officials of the Consulate General of the Philippines, distinguished community leaders, representatives of sponsoring companies and some guests for entertainment.
According to FBA president, Edgar Mendoza, champion teams in this tourney will receive cash, medals, certificates and valuable prizes from the exclusive sponsor and a free raffle tickets for all the audience of various gift prizes such as 32 inches of plasma/flat tv.

Last week games were all knocked-out matches prior to entering the final round that resulted to the following: Saudi Hi-tech outscored Sarco-Jeddah in a trilling game, 63-59. Rosewood Corniche Hotel exciting match against Consolidated Can Manufacturing Co. (CCMC) ended with controversy in a final score of 49-48 in favor of hoteliers. New Breed-Alshaya of coach Chris Contreras beat the equally strong team of Solid North of coach Art Oliva and manager Corly Obtinalla, 108-101.
The management of FBA would like to express its gratitude as well to other participating teams and companies who did not make it into the finals like Saudi Oger, Jeddah Fox, Arabian Int’l.
