Doon po sa amin is an old farm off the roadside in baranggay Paliparan, city of Calauan, Laguna province. Deep in the inner gardens of his own home province, the young Jose Rizal was given an appropriate ecological home before a little ‘paliparan,’ in this case, a grassy driveway to a quiet garden in the home of Sir Peter Van Bogaert, KGOR, honorary consul of the Philippines to Belgium and his lovely Filipina wife, Baby who played the roles of a good hostess, singer and dancer. All of us truly felt warmly welcomed.

Honorable George Berris, Mayor of Calauan, Laguna.Sir Peter also spoke, revealing his dedication to the ideals and honour of Rizal and that his young image should have a place in his home province, and preferably in a garden atmosphere.
Sir Peter van Bogaert, KGOR, honorary Consul of the Philippines to BelgiumSir Roger Quiambao, KGCR, President of the 17th International Assembly, also offered his words stressing the youth of Rizal and his appeal to the young. Sir Lino Paras, KGOR, past European Regional Commander, acted as MC.
Among the other Knights present were Sir Ferdinand Cena, KGOR now reassigned as Chief Account at the Department of Foreign Affairs, Manila; Sir Choy Arnaldo, KCR, Deputy Area Commander France; Sir Jun, KOR, Taytay Chapter; and Sir Michel, KOR, Brussels Chapter.

It was agreed that Paz would temporarily stay with her aunt Linda and she would follow once she finishes the semester. This situation gave Andrew an almost unrestricted access to her girlfriend’s house as Paz’s aunt worked the night hours as an ICU nurse in Makati Medical Center. This unrestricted access allowed Andrew to stay in Paz’s residence where they spent long hours playing” house”. To make the long story short, their “house playing” eventually led to Paz having the early morning sickness and being a medical professional, it did not take Linda long to add two and two together....

Message from the Oblation
Whether or not it’s a fig, laurel or cloverleaf that is covering the model’s private parts when we look at the Oblation in front of the UP Administration building in Diliman or whether or not it was Tolentino’s student Anastacio Caedo or Fernando Poe Sr. who probably posed as model is immaterial.
Any inquisitive student during his/her sojourn will learn that the statue depicts “a naked youth seeking for the naked truth”....

When we relate to other people, it is but natural to adapt different versions of yourself. One cannot openly say “ P*tang Ina” in front of one’s mother, or it would be quite unnatural to greet a peer by making “mano po”. With the collection of letters that Rizal exchanged, different aspects of his personality come out. Rizal kept all the letters that he received because “through them he wanted to study the character, temperament, transformation, and intellectual tendencies of his friends and countrymen” (Viola 324). So we do the same now to him.
In a letter, addressed to Trinidad Rizal, Rizal fits into the role of “Kuya”. He tells of his adventures in Germany and his impression of German women who are not afraid of men and are more concerned with substance than with appearances. So like any kuya, he encourages Trining to form the habit of studying, so as to adorn herself with substance. He ends the letter asking her to write him back in Spanish....

THE TALANGKAMost Filipinos are familiar with the derogatory term " talangka mentality ", meaning taking the short cut route of climbing to the top at the expense of others just like the perceived obnoxious habit of the talangka clambering over other talangka to reach to the top. Only a few people realize that the small crabs do not intentionally step on the other talangka. It is due to their instinct of trying to stay alive, or because of the urge of self preservation , that they try to escape among the hordes of other talangka whether in a bucket or on a river bank....

Update Issue - February, 2008NAGBABAGONG KLIMA SA PILIPINAS, nitong nakaraang dalawang buwan nagsisidaing ang mga naninirahan sa Baguio dahil sa tindi ng ginaw, 8-sentigrado. Di pa umano sila nakadanas ng pangangatog sa ginaw. Dahil hindi naman nangyayari ito, walang central heating ang mga bahay. Suot daw nila ay patong-patong at nakabalabal ng makapal.
Naitanong namin sa sarili, paano na lang yong mga taga Cordillera na hubad ang kalahati ng katawan at nakatapak. Sinasabing magtatagal pa itong lamig....
