RAFT JAFFDA POSTER

On the initiative of KFFN (Kalayaan Fiesta Foundation in the Netherlands, representatives from 25 Filipino-Dutch organizations formed JAFFDA, to spearhead this concerted community-wide effort to provide relief and rehabilitation assistance to the communities affected by these recent calamities in the Philippines.

The flow of tragic news overwhelmed local and international media. The typhoon Ondoy (Ketsana) alone in late September, brought damage in the billions of dollars to the Philippine economy, causing the worst floods in more than 4 decades. As if this was not enough, typhoon Pepeng (Parma) and Ramil caused major devastation in the country. Latest updates count more than 900 dead, with hundreds of thousands made homeless in and around Metro Manila alone. Millions are still suffering from the lack of food, water, and other basic necessities!

From mid- October 2009 up to mid-January 2010, JAFFDA is soliciting the support of good Samaritans, business establishments, church communities, institutions, and other organizations. As its first major fund-raising activity, this disaster relief & rehabilitation platform is organizing a benefit dance evening on November 27, 2009 in Amsterdam. Venue: ISH building, Willinklaan 3-5 1067 SL Amsterdam. The entire proceeds of this event and all solicited amounts will be used to help the flood victims through a designated Philippine partner (e.g. Philippine National Red Cross).

To facilitate receipts and transfer of contributions, donations can be remitted to the KFFN bank account number: 53.31.70.834 with ABN Amro Bank, Attn: RAFT-JAFFDA.

JAFFDA is calling on friends, supporters, and contacts to join the efforts in keeping RAFT afloat to bring relief to those who need this most. Other organizations or groups not mentioned below are also invited to join! (For the Dutch version please see other side).
