On Sunday Sep. 23, 2007 Friendship for the Philippines of Knokke-Heist celebrated its 5th anniversary in the sportscentre of Saint Bernard School in Knokke. Headed by Sir Dominiek Segaert, KCR Knights of Rizal Diamond Chapter, and assisted by board members Leah Gallego, Ria Blondeel, Hedwige Lietaer, Nicole Goffin, the group organised in the morning a bicycle tour of 18 km ending at 12 noon for a sumptuous Asian barbecue with more than 250 participants, showing a movie about the streetchildren- and educational project in and around Davao and Padada (Balay Pasilungan and Saint Michael's School and Fr. Francos Boys & Girlstown Budha) by Rosane & Medard Beernaert-Claerbout and ending with superb dance performances by Silayan led by Alpha Galecio and a successful tombola with Filipino articrafts.
It was Sir Roy B. Ecraela, 1st Secretary & Consul of Philippine Embassy Brussels who gave an inspirational thank speech in which he referred to the message of her Excellency Ambassador Cristina Ortega who mentioned "Friendship for the Philippines has touched the lives of many individuals in Mindanao and made a difference in some poor communities enabling them to face the future through education-related projects the last 5 years." The group invested during its existence almost 2 million pesos.
