APM Presents ‘Voice of Riyadh’
  Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
Wed 25th August 2010

Once again, the Asosasyon ng Pilipinong Mang-aawit (popularly known as APM) is wrapping-up another sterling display of all-around brilliance in singing via their forthcoming Voice of Riyadh Search For The Next Teen Singing Star slated for stage release on 24th of September at the Liwasang Bonifacio of the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh.

APM organizers under the tutelage of its Chairman and Event Director Jeffry Almendras noted that, “Voice of Riyadh will showcase only the best in terms of voice qualities in song interpretations and repertoire — the same feat we have brandished during all our past performances”.  Almendras added, “This is one pretty way to commemorate the APM 5th Anniversary.”

Currently, APM is gearing up to make sure that all production requirements are all put in place, let alone, readying their best of the best performers to once again sashay their talents on stage side-by-side with this Year’s Finalists:  Malik Mariano, Trisha Braza, Sherica Lacambra, Maricris Estioko, Katlyn Guia, Kimberly Paredes, Justin Flores, Maribel Tanquerido, Erika Tanquerido, Sahar Tolop and Jandale Jamer.

As the avalanches of positive expectations pour in, APM sees to it that no stone is left unturned.  They all agreed that Voice of Riyadh will raise the bar of entertainment as it promises the viewing public to be attached to it; will certainly move by it and think about it.  According to APM, “This competition serves as one ultimate training ground for the finalists who, as of this writing, are undergoing extensive stage coaching and voice clinic in preparation for this  event, let alone, other singing competitions they are eyeing to join soon”.   They added, “Voice of Riyadh is all about the ‘voice’.  You take away the accompanying instruments, the lights and the sounds, and what you will have is only the ‘voice’ — the voice and the stage performance of the competing finalists”.

Joining Almendras to stage the Voice of Riyadh are:  Emmanuel Ibale, Event Assistant Director; Raymond Ruben, Talent Director; Joseph Gonzales, Production In-charge; Ronnie Larazaga, Choreographer; JP Aleta, Segment In-charge; Nomer Cortez, Media Presentations; Ronnie Cario, Dennis Torcende, Joseph Gutierez, Frances Cortez, all Production Assistants with Mr. Robert Magno, Host and APM Singers, APM Star Kids and APM Dancers.  Among the sponsors and patrons are:  Pepsi Cola, Mawarid Food, Meed Trading, Al Taj International School, Ultra Media International Foundation, 888 Productions, Mr. Ronnie de Vera, Mr. Ernie Nunala, Mr. Nomer Cortez, Mr. Noel Martinez and Mr. & Mrs. Rommel Henson. – (J. It was Yuletide season, a good time for another family reunion in the Philippines.  We celebrated Christmas Eve at my brother Danny and his wife Cindy’s house.  Cindy’s sisters Annie and Bettina hosted Christmas lunch.  Our holiday meals were both delightful and generous.  It was time for some physical vacation activities.  Our destination – Coron in the province of Palawan.

Coron is remote.  We took three modes of transportation to get there - by air, land and sea.  Our big family tour group flew from Manila to Busuanga Island just north of the island of Palawan, then rode two vans through hills and dirt roads, before taking two motor boats to reach our secluded vacation hideaway by the beach.  The skillful boatmen waded and pushed the two small crafts as we passed through shallow waters between mangroves.

Experienced painters are often confronted with the problem of what to do with their early works whose originally unnoticed flaws have become more obvious with the passage of time.

Some professionals suggest the slash-and-burn option which consists in carrying out literally what the words mean. One should get rid of anything that could blot one's otherwise brilliant portfolio. Some artists already held in high esteem find this a sensible solution to avoid damage to their reputation or a plunge in their market-value. But, in this age when the dividing line between mediocrity and excellence in art appears to be non-existent, this suggestion seems extreme.

The majority, of course, recommend keeping them as is. One should not be ashamed of one's humble beginnings. If anything, early works are testaments to the artist's hard-fought struggles to achieve perfection or fitting preludes to a story with a happy ending. This is fine as long as one is willing to be reminded constantly of one's previous mistakes.
