The Samahan ng mga Pilipino Luxembourg a.s.b.l. held a Halloween Disco Party for the benefit of Bantay-Bata 163 at the Centre Cultural Paul Barble in Strassen, Luxembourg.
This year, we are very honored to have Ms. Tina Monzon Palma , the Program Director of ABS CBN Bantay-Bata 163 to be personally be with us during our event last 30 October 2010.

Bantay-Bata 163, is a child watch foundation in the Philippine , founded by Ms. Gina Lopez. 163 is the number to call to reach Bantay-Bata – 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The main goal of Bantay-Bata is to save lives of abuse and neglected children. The Dept. of Social Welfare and Development deputized the foundation to undertake rescue operations based on the degree of risk to the child based on a validated report. The Bantay-Bata 163 not only rescue children, they give them medical assistance, education, psychological therapy and family livelihood support through seminars and financial aid. In cases when reintegration with their family is not possible, Bantay-Bata looks for adoptive parents either locally, or abroad in cooperation with accredited adoption agencies. Foster care leading to adoption is the preferred option of Bantay Bata for its children.

Emcees
The event last 30 October 2010 was highlighted by a Halloween costume contest wherein the winning contestant won €250.00 cash prize. There was also a separate costume contest for the children with cash prizes and trophies awarded to the winners. The Samahan Lux also awarded 2 young Filipinos the SAMAHAN MOST OUTSTANDING PINOY ACHIEVER AWARD 2010. Recipients of the award are Sheila Mae Demonteverde Quiachon of Stuttgart, Germany and Gregory Reyes Schmit of Luxembourg City, Luxembourg in recognition to their many outstanding achievements and in honor to their dedication , enthusiasm and commitment to excellence in the field of sports. Ms. Quiachon had been 5 times champion in the sport of “Rock and Roll” in Stuttgart and was a 4
th placer in the German Master 2000 C Kat. and had played twice for the Damen Basketball Bundesliga. Mr. Schmit had been awarded the MVP award while playing for the Luxembourg National Basketball team, he had been playing for the National Team since he was 16 under different age group. The award was awarded to them in recognition for the honor they had given to the Filipino community and as to serve as role model to other young Filipinos.
The event was generally a success, we are already looking forward to our next Halloween Party next year. To all our sponsors and guests, members and supporters…thank you very much!!!!
