HOLLAND’S GOT TALENT FINALIST KIM RECORDS FIRST ALBUM TOGETHER WITH MOTHER MABEL, MOTHER & SON…….
The Netherlands
Sun 4th September 2011

Mabel de Blank-Regasa is born in December 1972 in Lucena City, Philippines. Already at young age Mabel was singing and in that way she earned money for the Regasa-Family.

In the Philippines Mabel was a well known contestant at local and national singing contests and she even made it up to the TV finals of Bagon Kampeon in 1986.

Singapore is where she met her Dutch husband Carlo and after a while she decided to go back home to her daughter Kathleen. Together with her husband, Mabel opened a Travel Agency in Cebu City. Here they were catering the expats, living in Cebu City and the European divers who wanted to explore the underwater World of The Philippines.

Cebu City is also the place where the brother of  Kathleen was born in October 2000.

When Kim was almost 2 years old the family moved back to Lucena City, where their family still lived. Unfortunately their husband and father Carlo had to move back to Holland after living in The Philippines for 4 years. That was the time they started the visa application for living in Holland. After all it took 6 years before Mabel, Kathleen and Kim were allowed to live with their husband and father Carlo in Holland. This have been 6 difficult years for all of them, but it has been more than worth it.

After seeing some talent shows on the Dutch TV, Kim joked a bit of joining Holland’s Got Talent. His parents never forgot this joke and signed him up for Holland’s Got Talent 2010. The rest soon became history. Kim was opted as the “Mini Michael Jackson of Holland” and the jury was very enthusiastic during and after the performances of Kim. (You can find some films on You Tube, typing Kim Regasa)

At last Kim made it up to the finals of Holland’s Got Talent 2010, but unfortunately he didn’t win the Talent Show. After that Kim was in demand and booked at several events throughout Holland and also became loved among the Filipino’s living in Holland. Kim even made it up to become known in the Philippines, where many national newspapers and websites wrote articles about him. He also was aired at the TFC Channel of ABS-CBN.

At one of these events Mabel and Kim were asked to record an CD, which would be  sponsored by some Dutch businessmen, lead by Ben Versendaal from PR Powerrent.
Mabel and Kim came in contact with Swamp Studio and that was the place where they, a few months ago, recorded their first album with 10 cover songs, with producer Stephen Haestregt. Mabel sings 5 songs on this CD , Kim  4  and they do one duet.

It was Yuletide season, a good time for another family reunion in the Philippines.  We celebrated Christmas Eve at my brother Danny and his wife Cindy’s house.  Cindy’s sisters Annie and Bettina hosted Christmas lunch.  Our holiday meals were both delightful and generous.  It was time for some physical vacation activities.  Our destination – Coron in the province of Palawan.

Coron is remote.  We took three modes of transportation to get there - by air, land and sea.  Our big family tour group flew from Manila to Busuanga Island just north of the island of Palawan, then rode two vans through hills and dirt roads, before taking two motor boats to reach our secluded vacation hideaway by the beach.  The skillful boatmen waded and pushed the two small crafts as we passed through shallow waters between mangroves.
