Ushering in 2012 with solid optimism and meaningful expectations to ensure attainment of optimum success for Philippine trained educators in the highly competitive Ontario teacher employment marketplace, the
Philippine Teachers Association of Canada ( PTAC) is conducting its annual professional teachers seminar-workshop on March 4th, 2012, Sunday, 10:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. at the
Time Zone Restaurant, Bathurst Road, North York,Toronto, Ontario.
The yearly seminar is aimed at providing opportunities to participants and members of the 6- year old FilCan educators organization , especially Ontario College of Teachers- certified teachers to appreciate, understand and develop classroom engagement systems and approaches with focus on best practices, and successful strategies in teaching various grades in Ontario schools and colleges, particularly in the GTA Catholic and public schools.
Tapped to deliver and facilitate the discussions are noted education professionals, practitioners and school teachers from the Filipino Canadian community in Ontario. Among the major topics are : Ministry-prescribed curricula and instructional planning; teaching strategies and procedures; school culture, organization & practices; school discipline and behavour; specialized programs, and other relevant systems.
Organized in May, 2006, the 105- member Association is led by Tony A. San Juan, as its President. Members of the 2011-2013 Executive Board include : A. Rose Cruz, Boni Curutan, Bernadette Gapuz, Pet Collantes, Mila Curutan, Jess Panem, Mel Tumamao, Jr., Maricon Bernasor, Grace Avila, Gigi Nicholas, Elena Aguilar, Rose Apilado & Sam Posadas.The other Board Directors are: Redentor Andres, Joan Ang, Sheng Baoit, Ruvy Bendoy,Mary Rose Cacdac, Norman Daroy, Cielito Drapeza, Venus Geraneo, Perly Laganas, Etta Del Rosario & Erlyn Simanero. PTAC members are former teaching professionals in the Philippines and / or current or retired teachers and educators in Ontario schools and colleges.
Seminar registration is open to all active members of PTAC and also, new members joining the organization
on or before March 4th, 2012. Interested participants are requested to register,ASAP, with Bernadette Gapuz, Secretary(

mbernasor@yahoo.com). A minimal fee of $ 7.50 per attendee may be charged to cover the costs of meal and materials.(TSJ).
