CHERIE MAE DE LOS REYES and CHAYENNE HESS WIN FIRST HIMIG @ GALAW SING AND DANCE CONTEST in THE NETHERLANDS

Finally the time was there ...April 28, 2012, the date of the new sing- and dance contest Himig @ Galaw.  After almost one year of preparations, about 100 visitors, including Mayor van Ee and Ambassador Lourdes G. Morales, could witness the 8 contestants showing their talents in the newly built Het Spant in Ameide .
 
The idea of organizing an event like this came about when Kim Regasa, the son of  organizers Mabel and Carlo de Blank-Regasa, joined  Hollands Got Talent 2010.  He mentioned in one of his interviews, that time, that he would like to help the poor children.  This made the organizers think for some time. With the result of organising Himig @ Galaw, a new sing and dance contest for charity.  The charity will be the streetchildren of Lucena City  the Capital City of  Quezon Province, the place where the roots are of Kim, his sister Kathleen and his mother Mabel.
 


 


 


 
During Himig @ Galaw Kim also performed together with his older sister Kathleen on guitar.
 


 
`First of all it’s really nice to help the streetchildren in Lucena City, but it is also great to enhance the talents of our kababayan here in Nederland`,said Mabel de Blank in her speech.
 
All the candidates where invited a few hours before Himig @ Galaw started, so they were able to practice their songs and to get familiar with the soundsystem of Sound Wave from Bhong Bautista.


 


 
In total there were 8 candidates for the singing contest and they had one dancer, Stephanie Boverhoff from Breukelen, who gave a guest performance.


 
The following candidates joined the kids division ;
 
1^st  price - Chayenne Hess from Loenen a/d Vecht - I Have Nothing
2^nd price - Crislin Faye Bautista from Den Haag - Some one like you
3^rd price  - Macy Loffeld from Utrecht - My Heart Will Go On
Consolation price – Mhaydee Ann Alvarez from Schiedam – One Moment In Time


 
The following candidates joined the adults division ;
 
1st - Cherie Mae De Los Reyes from Hengelo - I Will Always Love You
2nd - Chastine Villo from Den Haag - I Have Nothing
3rd - Suzette Morales from Amsterdam - Out Of Reach
Consolation price – Delsa Villo from Den Haag – Try It On My Own

The organizers, Mabel en Carlo de Blank-Regasa, were very happy to tell us that they earned € 575,50 with Himig @ Galaw. All this will go to the streetchildren of Lucena City were they will set up a project this coming July to hand out food and clothes and they also start to send some of these children to a public school in their own prospective Barangay.
 
Already there are plans to made Himig @ Galaw annually, because of the positive and good impact from the sponsors, candidates and visitors. The organizers are also open for suggestions and comments, which can be sent to himigatgalaw@yahoo.com
