Tony A. San Juan, a noted Filipino Canadian educator and leader in the community, has been invited to speak at the
Proudly Pinoy Day in celebration of Asian Canadian Heritage Month in Canada. The annual event is being sponsored by Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB)on June 2nd, 2012, Saturday, 9:30 a.m.at Jean Vanier Catholic Secondary School in Scarborough, City of Toronto.
The current president of Philippine Teachers Association of Canada(PTAC), San Juan was selected to serve as a Resource Professional and will make a presentation before an audience of Asian Canadian parents and adults,expectedly mostly Filipinos, at the free one-day workshops. The affair is being co-ordinated by Jody Huang, TCDSB community relations officer.
As a TDSB teacher and former professor of education in the Philippines and Nigeria, San Juan will discuss and facilitate the session on :
"How To Help Your Child Succeed In School". Under the theme "Community MobilizationThrough Education", he will take up meaningful information and productive strategies of how parents and guardians could rightfully deal as well as successfully guide their children or wards adjust, improve and meet curriculum expectations in Ontario classrooms.
It is expected that at the interactive sessions, with his experience and expertise, San Juan will be able to share professional insights and proven approaches of providing participating parents and attendees, especially those new in Canada, the "tools" and strategies of bringing on student success and enlightened parental engagements in education and learning journeys, as well (JSM).
