Ng tayo’y isilang sa mundong ibabaw
May kaugalian tayong kinagisnan
Ang isa na rito ay tungkol sa tatay
Dapat na mag-angkin, tamang katangian.
 
Ang amang mabuti’y tila isang gabay
Ng isang mag-anak na nangaglalakbay
Sa napakahirap na tulay ng buhay
Na gigiwang giwang at hahapay-hapay.
 
Ang amang malakas ay tila haligi
Ng isang tahanan kahit anong laki
Kahit anong bigat nang dalang pighati
Hindi mapuputol, hindi mababali.
 
Ang amang matapang ay isang sandigan
Ng kanyang mag-anak kung may kasawian
Kanyang haharapin kahit kamatayan
Upang karangala’y mapangalagaan.
 
Ang amang mahusay ay tila kapitan
Nang malaking barkong nasa karagatan
Ang bagyong darating para maiwasan
Ay tamang pasiya ang s’yang kailangan.
 
Kapag nawala na ama ng tahanan
Parang nawala rin ang taglay na tibay
Kahit na gusali, o kaya’y bahay man
Ito ay babagsak, o kaya’y hahapay.
 
Ngunit marami rin ang ama-amahan
Na kasama lamang sa kaligayahan
Kapag kaharap na ay pananagutan
Agad maglalaho’t walang kinalaman.
 
Madaling sabihing tayo’y isang ama
Salitang matipid ay walang halaga
Kinakailangan ay pagpapahalaga
Katungkulan natin, bilang isang AMA.
