Halfweg, June 2, 2012: The smell of barbecue filled the air, happy faces all around, stalls filled with Filipino goods, endless array of native delicacies giving a real feast to the mouth and that beautifull sound of Tagalog and our other native dialects sounded like music to the ear.....its wonderfully awesome!!!
That was sphere of the Philippine Independence Picnic day in Spaarnwoude last June 2.
From the moment that you stepped into the picnic site it was like walking into our own Philippine soil.....like being home far away from home.

In the picnic with Jessica
An estimated crowd of 3000 enthusiastic Filipino-Dutch people came to join the entire Filipino community celebrate our freedom day. It was a wonderful sight to behold.
The celebration was being graced by our very own Philippine Ambassador H.E. Lourdes G. Morales who gave a short inspirational talk. Consul general Mr. Eppo H. Horlings and Haarlemmerliede en Spaarnwoude Mayor Bert Bruijn also gave their speeches.
A variety of entertainment was organized. There was dancing- from streetdancing to hiphop to modern. Singers took turns with their guitars to entertain the crowd.
But people went wild when Ruth Galura took the stage. She really rocked the stage and made the picnic reached it highest gear with her variety of disco songs in her powerfull voice.
People started singing along with her and danced their way closer to the stage and crowd around her...it was just a great perfomance and everybody loved it.
The picnic was a very successful one. A salute to the organizers and its members!
It was a job very well done! Keep it up.
And to our kababayans and the Dutch community who joined hands with us during our freedom day celebration... I say thank you so very much and" Mabuhay ang PILIPINO!!!!!"...
See you all next year.....
