Miss Caregiver 2012 (Ontario)
Fil-core Support Group Presents....2012 Miss Caregiver Pageant Tribute to Mother Earth and Advocates for Global Peace
Ontario-Canada
July 28, 2012

In the production  of Miss caregiver 2012, we had shown our viewers that we are more than just nannies. We showcased our special talents, creativity and our passion for what we do. Throughout the legacy of Miss Caregiver, this year is to be considered as the best one yet. With a wider venue and much more audiences we were able to send out the message of the caregiver to many. Not only was it informational it was also very entertaining.

The production number, which was choreographed by one of the past candidates of Miss Caregiver, MARY ANNE CANALES  had really presented the theme of this year being world peace very clearly and even managed to add a modern flare that made the audience want to get off their seats and dance. It was truly a wonderful way to start off the night. As the night progressed, not only were the candidates fired up but so was the crowd. As Fil-core support group has added a brand new twist to a regular pageant by adding a new portion called Creative gowns. This enabled the candidates to portray their creativity and love for earth by only using recycled material. In the end the candidates made such elegant and beautiful dresses that were enough to leave the audience in awe.

The show were attended  by our newly arrived Consul General Junefer Mahilum West,  Pickering Scarborough East Member of the Parliament Tracy Mc Charles who have given Fil-core Support Group a recognition for its valuable contribution to the caregivers community. To conclude the list of dignitaries were Labor Attache’ Francisco Luna and the loyal supporter of Fil-core Support Group Mayor Dave Ryan and wife Ann of Pickering.

There were also many guest singers who had majestic voices mostly caregivers and  guest performers who really add grandeur to the whole presentation. It also recognizes the strength of ambitious caregivers who did not stop dreaming despite the difficulties, and tried to reach their goal by pursuing their education.

Not only is Fil-core  Support Group salutes  caregivers in this magnificent event, we did showcased employers by nominating 5 employers to  be  recognized as “Outstanding Employer of the Year”. This title was awarded to Mr and Mrs. Andrew Ingram, an employer hailed from Clairemont, Pickering who was chosen because of  being compliant to the Employment Standard Act of Ontario as well as  follows rules and policies set forth by the Federal  government in hiring Live-in Caregiver.

Another night of success for Fil-core Support Group.  A simple dream, to deliver a show to remember created a bar that  elevated status of caregivers in Canada.  Once again, caregivers community pulled off an enchanting event conceptualized in a very unique theme “GLOBAL PEACE with tribute to MOTHER EARTH” left  media, community leaders, dignitaries and caregivers  commend  organizer of  the professionalism, prestige and splendour of the  overall presentation. Credits given back to our 11 candidates for their dedication and commitment.

Congratulations to Miss Shamaine Jalos for  taking home the crown and made everyone  in awe with her splendid  sand painting talent, Miss Claire Bael  winning the  1st Runner –up,  Miss Margie Bayanay   being tagged 2nd  Runner up, Miss Rezzany Bardon and Hazel Satera, for titles 3rd  and 4th Runner up respectively.

Fil-core would also like to thanks  Caidiocan Elementary School for giving us opportunity to help them build their Washroom. Our candidates source of strength and  inspiration to carry on till the end of the show, our school Children from  Dumaguete, Negros Oriental.

Had it not been four our sponsors we would not been able to pulled off a very prestigious presentation, your financial support made us bigger and better each year...thank you ALL!

The progress of Miss Caregiver, from an aluminum foil crown to a well manufactured crown covered in real Swarovski  is not only an upgrade in prizes but also a metaphor for Fil-core Support Group. At first we were weak  and fragile,   yet managed  to  stand still and continue believing that we can make a difference. We were discouraged  by some individuals, some community leaders and   even some caregivers organization who did not support our purpose , defy our abilities and never believe of what we can become after.   Now as the real rhinestone encrusted crown entails, we are strong and indestructible. We are an important part in the caregiver community and we shall be for generation and generations to come. Reaching out to caregivers, now going farther than the Durham region we stand tall and proud. All glad to say that WE ARE CAREGIVERS and WE MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

It was Yuletide season, a good time for another family reunion in the Philippines.  We celebrated Christmas Eve at my brother Danny and his wife Cindy’s house.  Cindy’s sisters Annie and Bettina hosted Christmas lunch.  Our holiday meals were both delightful and generous.  It was time for some physical vacation activities.  Our destination – Coron in the province of Palawan.

Coron is remote.  We took three modes of transportation to get there - by air, land and sea.  Our big family tour group flew from Manila to Busuanga Island just north of the island of Palawan, then rode two vans through hills and dirt roads, before taking two motor boats to reach our secluded vacation hideaway by the beach.  The skillful boatmen waded and pushed the two small crafts as we passed through shallow waters between mangroves.

Experienced painters are often confronted with the problem of what to do with their early works whose originally unnoticed flaws have become more obvious with the passage of time.

Some professionals suggest the slash-and-burn option which consists in carrying out literally what the words mean. One should get rid of anything that could blot one's otherwise brilliant portfolio. Some artists already held in high esteem find this a sensible solution to avoid damage to their reputation or a plunge in their market-value. But, in this age when the dividing line between mediocrity and excellence in art appears to be non-existent, this suggestion seems extreme.

The majority, of course, recommend keeping them as is. One should not be ashamed of one's humble beginnings. If anything, early works are testaments to the artist's hard-fought struggles to achieve perfection or fitting preludes to a story with a happy ending. This is fine as long as one is willing to be reminded constantly of one's previous mistakes.
