In recognition of his exemplary work, Dr Don Eliseo Lucero-Prisno III, our Munting Nayon columnist, has been named Outstanding Alumnus in the field of Health and Medicine by the Leyte Normal University in Tacloban City during the Dayao Awards on 11 March 2011. Dayao which means praise in the Waray-Waray language extols individuals who have performed in exemplary manner in their respective fields. This year is extra special as the university celebrates its 90th founding anniversary. Ten alumni who studied at the institution whether during the time it was still Leyte Provincial Normal School (1921), Leyte Normal School (1952), Leyte State College (1976) or currently Leyte Normal University (1996). Don studied his elementary and high school at the LNU where he graduated as Salutatorian in both levels.

There were ten alumni awardees who were recognized for their work in their respective fields. Included among the awardees are Dan Stephen Palami for Sports and Recreation who is known as the Team Manager of the Philippine football team Azkhals, Romeo B. Almonte of the Congress for Political Affairs, Ranulfo C. Docdocan of ABS-CBN (Media and Communication), Ronerto V. Dazo (Social Work), Arturo O. Gabrieles (Management), Ruperto B. Golong Jr. (Law), Joanne G. Gomez (Trade and Industry), Pablo P. Quianzon (Civic Service) and Norberto D. Tuazon (Peace and Order).
