Sa purgatoryo nanggaling…

Tuwing ika 1 ng Nobyembre,  ipinagdiriwang ng mga Filipino ang Araw ng mga Patay. Walang pasok sa araw na ito. Karamihan sa mga Filipino ay nagtutungo sa sementeryo para dalawin ang kanilang mga mahal sa buhay na yumao na. Ang iba, bisperas pa lang ng araw na ito,  ay pumupunta na sa sementeryo para maglinis ng puntod o nagbabayad sa sepulturero para linisin ang nitso nang namaalam ng  mga kamag-anak.

Sa araw ng mga patay, hugos na ang mga tao sa sementeryo. Matao at Matrapik ang daan patungo sa mga sementeryo. Punung-puno rin ang mga dyip at bus. Sari-saring eksena ang makikita rito. Mayroong mga nagdarasal , may kumakain, may nagmimisa, may nagmamadyong sa ibabaw ng nitso, may nagsisindi ng kandila, may nag-aalay ng mga bulaklak, may nagrorosaryo, may nagsusugal, may nagpapatugtog ng cassette tape o tumutugtog ng gitara. At ang mga bata’y abala at naglilibang sa pagkuha ng tulo ng mga kandila.  Mabiling-mabili rin ang serbisyo ng mga pari sa pagbebendisyon ng mga puntod.
